Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog! Once you submit the application below, the process is as follows:
1. Your application will be processed by a Social Tees volunteer. It usually only takes a few days but can take longer if we’re waiting for your references. If you have questions about the status of yours, please send a polite and understanding email to apps@socialteesnyc.org. :) If you’d like to help us make this system more efficient, please submit a volunteer app here to join the application processing team!
2. When processing your application, we will contact your landlord, veterinarian, and personal references. We may also contact you for further information and/or to schedule a home check. Please have patience while waiting for a response. You can speed up the process a little by getting your pet policy in writing — landlord approval is usually the main holdup.
3. If approved, you will be notified by a Social Tees adoption coordinator, and we’ll take it from there. You’ll have a FaceTime meeting first so you get a chance to chat with your prospective pup’s foster family, and if that goes as well as we expect it to, you move on to the in person meeting/adoption.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to place any animal on hold while any application is being processed. We sincerely appreciate your enthusiasm about welcoming a rescue pet into your family, but we receive many applications for each animal, and we choose the best match for each animal to the best of our ability.
